The Mission of Kosmos Camp

The mission of Kosmos is to bring dancers together in an intimate and inclusive setting to share their passion for the performing arts in a safe and supportive environment. Our dedication lies in inspiring people from all backgrounds through music and dance to create community and diversity where everyone, whether you are a beginner or an experienced dancer, will feel welcome. Furthermore our goal is to spread awareness about various genres of dance & drumming and to create community among those who are committed to these art forms.

The Story of Kosmos Camp

Kosmos Camp began as a weekend party in 2003.  Founder Matthew Furey envisioned a place where dancers and drummers could bond with each other and express themselves.  After attending music camps regularly in Mendocino County, he decided to start his own.  Matthew fell in love with and married Elisa Rodriguez the following year and she has been a co-director with him ever since.  Elisa is an active dancer and Matthew a gigging bassist. The couple is greatly supported by the Furey family who help run Kosmos Camp.  Thus Kosmos Camp is a family reunion in addition to being a memorable getaway for dancers and drummers.    Over the course of time, many amazing events have come and gone and unforgettable moments have transpired.  Kosmos Camp has now been experienced by thousands of people.  We hope you can join us and experience this great creative tradition.
